About The Grove Estate

The Grove Estate is a luxury addiction treatment center in Peru, Indiana. The facility has treated adults since 2023 and operates one location on a 25-acre estate centered on the Walnut Grove Mansion, built in 1889. The estate sits 75 miles north of Indianapolis and 20 miles north of Kokomo.

The Grove Estate offers two levels of care: on-site medical detox and residential rehabilitation at ASAM Level 3.5, clinically managed high-intensity residential treatment. Because detox is delivered on site, clients do not transfer between facilities between withdrawal and residential treatment. Residential capacity is 31 to 50 beds. Detox is staffed at one team member for every four clients and residential treatment at one team member for every twelve. Registered nurses provide medical oversight 24 hours a day.

Five supporting programs run alongside the levels of care: rehab for professionals, dual diagnosis treatment, family integration, exercise and nutrition, and aftercare planning. The therapies delivered inside these programs are individual counseling, group counseling, drug and alcohol seminars, and holistic therapy.

Treatment covers alcohol, fentanyl, heroin, hydrocodone, codeine, methamphetamine, cocaine, Adderall, Xanax, Valium, other benzodiazepines, and marijuana. Every admission receives a psychiatric evaluation before the treatment plan is written, and co-occurring depression, anxiety, and trauma are treated concurrently with the substance use disorder rather than sequentially.

The approach is trauma-informed and non-coercive. Clients participate voluntarily and treatment plans are written with the client. The Grove Estate serves adults aged 18 and older, specializes in working professionals, does not admit clients involuntarily, and does not treat minors.

Care is led by Dr. Steven Schneider, medical director, a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with 35 years in psychiatry. Ryan Cowles, BSN, serves as director of nursing with 22 years in healthcare. Dana Reichert is chief executive officer and Lori Hawk is director of quality.

Admission requires a phone assessment, insurance verification, and a scheduled arrival date. The assessment is confidential and the admissions team answers 24 hours a day at 765-204-1188.
